Letter to Parents
As President for the Eta Rho Chapter of Kappa Delta, it is my greatest honor and privilege to welcome your daughter to our sisterhood! I am a senior here at the Wilmington College majoring in Agriculture with a concentration in Animal Science and a minor in chemistry. This past year I served as the chapter's Vice President of Public Relations. In my three years at Wilmington, I can say without hesitation that joining Kappa Delta has provided me with more joy, comfort, and support than I could have ever imagined.
Our sisters are excited about welcoming and sharing their experiences in Kappa Delta with your daughter! Nationally, the sorority is very strong with over 200 collegiate chapters and 500 Alumnae Chapters worldwide. Kappa Delta can offer your daughter an unforgettable experience, providing her with invaluable skills and connections to help her succeed not only during college, but for the rest of her life.
We are proud to say that at the annual Greek Life Awards among Wilmington’s other Greeks we were awarded: “Greek excellence in new membership award”, “Greek excellence in philanthropy award”, “Greek excellence in academic honor award (membership semester GPA above gender average) both semesters”, “Greek organization scholarship award (membership semester GPA at or above 3.0) both semesters”, “Greek life standards award green and white (the highest honor) award of excellence”, and certainly not least “Outstanding Greek life organization of the year”. We are so proud of all of the accomplishments we have made, but none of it would be possible without the dedication of each sister.
With that being said, I would ask that you encourage your daughter to make the most of her sorority membership and support her ability to see the “big picture” benefits of joining such a successful organization. Our goal is to motivate each of our members to become the best versions of themselves, in turn making our sisterhood the best it can be for generations of Kappa Deltas to come.
We highly encourage leadership skills among college women in a supportive, caring environment of friendship. Though many of our sisters rise in leadership within our sisterhood, each member in our chapter is also an actively involved leader in an organization outside of the sorority. Many of our sisters hold leadership positions in organizations outside of Kappa Delta. Beyond leadership skills, Kappa Delta also reminds members how important it is to give back to the community through philanthropic service by having an annual fundraiser for Prevent Child Abuse America. We also strive to instill confidence in young women nationwide through our work with the Girl Scouts of the USA.
I am confident that becoming a member of the Eta Rho chapter of Kappa Delta will enhance your daughter’s college experience. Though this membership comes with responsibilities, I can say without a doubt that everything she puts into Kappa Delta she will receive back, plus more. I would not be who I am today without this circle of incredible women and I look forward to sharing this experience with your daughter as an initiated sister and lifelong member!
Striving for that which is Honorable, Beautiful, and Highest,
